09 Midwest Opti Champs : The brisk waters of Lake Michigan called out to US Opti sailors this fall in a big way! Milwaukee Yacht Club provided for a variety of wind, air temperature and precipitation to please (and freeze) all Optimist sailors at this championship regatta.

09 ACC's : Larchmont Yacht Club in New York hosted the 2009 Atlantic Coast Optimist Championship regatta (ACC's). Unfortunately Mother Nature did not provide any wind for these top-level sailors to enjoy, but the race management did provide some entertaining on-the-water activities to pass the hours of windless bobbing on Long Island Sound.

2009 Southeast Opti Champs : Lake Lanier Sailing Club is an awesome place to host a regatta. Sailing just 11/4 mile off shore in Georgia, the regatta boasted a total of 8 races in winds ranging from 4-13 knots. USODA champions from around the country enjoyed the sailing and the time spent with friends ashore.

2009 New England Opti Championships : 2009 USODA New England Optimist Championship Regatta hosted by Sail Newport in Newport, Rhode Island. The regatta was the largest competitive sailing event of the 2009 season so far, with nearly 400 boats competing for the championship title and an invitation to the 2010 USODA Team Trials Regatta in Houston, TX.

2009 USODA Great Lakes Championships : Congratulations to all of the sailors that competed in the 2009 Great Lakes Optimist Class Championships at Lorain Sailing and Yacht Club. The conditions proved to be a true test of sailing ability, with extremely light and shifty conditions on Day 1 and heavy gusty breeze on day 2. 2009 USODA Team Trials Regatta : Noroton Yacht Club hosted the 2009 Spring USODA National Team Trials regatta with awesome results and a fabulous event. This Opti regatta, featuring the top 210 sailors in the USA proved to be a true test of skills with varying wind, current and temperatures that pushed the physical limits of sailors from every area of the country. Browse the photos and see the exciting sailing that took place on Long Island Sound this May. The top finishers of this regatta qualified for a position on the US National Optimist Sailing Team, and will represent the country at several International regattas around the world in 2009. Make sure to attend many USODA qualifying regattas throughout 2009 for your opportunity to qualify for the 2010 Team Trials.
